Dick Dale
Unknown Territory
The Story
"Unknown Territory" features Dick Dale's unique surf guitar style on thirteen mostly instrumental guitar tracks (three songs include Dale vocals). "Unknown Territory" also features cover tunes like "Ghostriders In The Sky", and Dale's take on the traditional "Hava Nagila". The CD opens with "Scalped", offering Dale's trademark thrash, and later heats up with standouts such as "Terra Dicktyl" and "The Beast". Drum fans will appreciate the extended solo section in "Take It Or Leave It" (really a drum vehicle), and while heading south of the border, be sure to give "Mexico" a spin. Dale rides the wave of 'verb once again on "Unknown Territory", his 1994 release on Hightone Records.
