Today finds guitarist Jimmy Bruno a long way from the days when he kicked around Los Angeles with little more than a guitar and dream. A Concord Jazz artist since 1992, he has three critically acclaimed outings as a leader to his credit: "Burnin'" (CCD-4612), "Slight Of Hand" (CCD-4532), and "Like That" (CCD-4698) with organ wiz Joey DeFrancesco. He also appears on "The Concord Jazz Guitar Collective" (CCD-4672) with fellow guitarists Howard Alden and Frank Vignola.

With each recording, Bruno has affirmed his status as one of the world's leading jazz guitarists. Possibly his best work to date, "Live At Birdland" represents the latest stage in a progression that promises still greater things to come. Bruno's trademarks? Brilliant technique coupled with a seemingly bottomless well of improvisational ideas, of course. But maybe George Benson did say it best, after all: "Maaann!"
