The Story
Swedish rock/metal/shred guitarist Mattias IA Eklundh is today considered one of the most innovative and ground breaking guitar players around with a fast growing global following from fellow "guitar nerds" to simply true music freaks. Mattias' minimalist, home-brewed, and stripped down approach to the guitar has surprised record buyers and journalists around the world. His follow up to his very successful 1999 solo CD "Freak Guitar" is entitled "Freak Guitar - The Road Less Traveled". Here you'll find 23 tracks of simply amazing and stunningly creative guitar work, bolstered by an all-instrumental version of Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water" (this isn't your father's "SOTW"!) There simply aren't any signs of expensive guitar effects or processors involved in his playing, despite the sometimes "outlandish" sounds you hear (Mattias receives e-mails daily from dedicated guys and gals asking him what type of whammy pedal he owns. He finds this very amusing). Note: The crazy RF-like distortion on "Caffeine" is intentional (listen to clip).
