Eclipse features the guitar techtronics of two young shredders, 18-year-old American, James Malone and 17-year-old Greek, Gus Karamitroudis. The duo is circulating a 4-song demo CD-R replete with heavy metal, high-energy compositions featuring extended solo passages, crisp harmonic interplay and some expressive acoustic work. Both guitarists display explosive speed on the first three numbers (including the melodic "Masquerade") and they unplug for their last tune, "Loneliness". Their CD-R shows that Malone and Karamitroudis are off to a promising start as they continue to develop their heavy metal songwriting talents and individual solo styles. Eclipse was originally profiled in the October-November, 1998 edition of The Undiscovered.
Eclipse was born when James and Gus met while attending Berklee College Of Music's Summer Performance Program. The band's influences include Yngwie Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, Joe Stump, UFO, MSG as well as many duel guitar bands such as Racer X and Cacophony. James is a student of former Legato recording artist Scott Mishoe and Gus studies guitar with Leviathan recording artist Joe Stump. Gus recently relocated to the United States from Greece in order that Eclipse could work on new material. Their CD-R demo will be distributed in Europe through Holy Records.
In order to fulfill their goal of sharing their music with the world, Eclipse is now hard at work on their upcoming project which will include both vocal and instrumental songs.
