Fly is the recently released CD by Virginia guitarist Phil Zuckerman, a ten song affair featuring cover songs and originals designed to demonstrate the prototype amplifiers built by Eric Pritchard of Pritchard Amps. Zuckerman is chief consultant for Pritchard Amps and is involved in the testing and development process. On Fly, the guitarist pays homage to his heroes by singing and playing songs popularized by Jimi Hendrix ("Them Changes"), Eric Clapton ("Crossroads"), Jeff Beck ("Let Me Love You"), Led Zeppelin ("Rock And Roll") and Steve Cropper ("Green Onions"). There are also four original songs penned by Zuckerman, including the blistering instrumental "Pick A Boogie" and the spacey hard rock of "UFO". This CD has a multitude of guitar sounds, rock-solid axe work, and emotionally charged vocals -- Zuckerman's experience combined with some familiar covers yields a CD worth owning. Zuckerman was originally profiled in the February-March, 2000 edition of The Undiscovered.
Phil has been performing for over 30 years in the Virginia/Maryland area. His recent gigs have included a stint with Dan Aykroyd, with Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, and also Catfish Hodge.
In addition to his work with Pritchard Amps, Zuckerman currently teaches guitar in the Winchester, Virginia.
