Steve Smith & Vital Information
Vitalization
The Story
"Vitalization" is the jazz fusion quartet's 12th album, featuring Steve Smith, Tom Coster, Baron Browne, and introduces guitarist Vinny Valentino as the band's newest member. Smith's recent musical activities have inspired him to include special guests and an international flavor. Saxophonist Bill Evans, percussionists Pete Lockett (from London), Gilad (from Israel) and Juan Carlos Melian (from Spain), all make important contributions to "Vitalization". Based in New York City, Vinny Valentino tours extensively, playing concerts, festivals, and club engagements around the world. Currently in addition to performing with his own bands Vinny is performing with Bill Evans. His international debut recording, The Distance Between Two Lines, shot straight up the charts to #2 and stayed on the national charts for more than 14 weeks -- an unprecedented achievement for a first international release. Paul Anthony of Jazz Unlimited called it "one of the top five albums of 1993."
