Celtic/New Age-Influenced Instrumental Acoustic

The Path is the title of the latest CD-R project from New York based guitarist and composer Jim Goodin. The release is all instrumental solo guitar and largely original music of Celtic, American fingerstyle and new age influence. Goodin has been described as "a moving and melodic guitarist" (Park Slope Courier), and the eight beautifully recorded songs on The Path support that description one-hundred percent. He has also been described as a "guitarist's guitarist", but Goodin's music will appeal to any fan of melody and the sound of an acoustic guitar played by a musician with immaculate technique. His original compositions subtly recall influences such as Will Ackerman and Ralph Towner, but Goodin is no copycat, finding his own personal harmonic 'space' in the context of a solo guitar recording.

Inspired by the music of the late Michael Hedges, Jim decided to focus on the guitar in 1982, after a musical background that included experience with both woodwinds and the piano since childhood. He then studied classical technique and began to experiment with alternate tunings. Jim's first CD project, "Two Weeks", found the guitarist exploring and interpreting the harp melodies of the Irish band Turlough O'Carolan. He has found success performing at several of the Border's bookstores in the New York and New England area, and has set up distribution with several stores. Jim has also been picked to be the feature artist of the month at instrumentalmusic.com.

Goodin has recently signed an agreement with Extrordinaire Media, a California based music promotion company and owner of Global Pacific Records, who will be shopping his music this fall. He is currently re-recording The Path in Dubway Studios in New York and will have a September release of The Path project with a new look and extended original versions plus some new pieces as well.
