St Petersburg, Florida area guitarist Johnnie K submitted his eleven song, mostly instrumental demo CD-R called Electric Angel. Taking his cue from artists such as Jimi Hendrix, who could cross musical boundaries at the drop of a hat, Johnnie K pushes his compositions in directions such as rock, fusion, jazz, new age, classical and blues, using his electric guitar to state themes and melodies that emanate straight from the heart. The production on the demos is basic at best, but the songs exist primarily as a showcase for what Johnnie K can do with his guitar - full-throttle bluesy lines, riffs drenched in massive reverb, gut-wrenching talk-box solos, and swirling guitar textures. From here, Johnnie K probably just needs to hook up with a powerhouse drummer and a producer/engineer type who can place his soaring guitar work into the proper context.
Music has been Johnnie's life since the age of eleven, when he would listen to records and imitate their bass lines. Recordings were the main tool he used to figure out motifs, challenging his ears and his heart. A few years later, he purchased his first Stratocaster, and began to use influences such as Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Frank Marino and Steve Vai to develop a spectrum of sounds and ideas for his playing. Johnnie also writes lyrics for a number of his songs, and is a visual artist as well (he has a gallery of his work on his web site). He started playing live in front of an audience at the age of fifteen, and has been touring, recording and paying dues for many years. At some point, Johnnie would like to record for soundtrack projects and pursue record label affiliations.
Johnnie K's future plans include trying to locate organizations that will help him gain exposure, locating dedicated musicians, recording more music, and touring the world. He is actively in contact with several labels, magazines and management companies in Europe and the United States.
