Specializing In Instrumental

Indiana guitarist Tim Pratt submitted a two-song demo CD-R, featuring two hard rock style numbers. "Anointed Combustion" is the high-energy number of the two, rocking with heart, soul and attitude galore. Featuring a drum machine or beat box for backing and the throbbing bass guitar of Stan Hoover, the track features a super-extended solo section that in reminiscent of the title track off "Surfing With The Alien". Now for the first track, saddled with the super-extended title of "An Instrument Of Your Peace (Phoenix Rising)", Pratt tells Hoover to sit this one out, and pulls out the synths and keyboards to provide a calliope-like backup - along with a rhythmic crunch. So depending on how you feel about that combination will have a direct bearing on your opinion of the track.

Starting on the trombone at age 10, Tim soon abandoned it for a classical guitar that he got for Christmas. By the age of 17, loud amplification took control, and he later played in numerous bands in the Northern Indiana area, including Head Band, Razor Sharp, Street Lethal, Stranger and Spectre. Then he played in blues-rock bands such as The Image and Holiday Blonde. Tim then turned his attention towards music that glorified the Lord, with bands such as Skyfish and Grail, the latter being a Christian power trio that released two independent CDs and opened shows for Reliant K and Jeremy Camp. He was also interested in instrumental music at that time, recording a CD entitled "Emporium". Tim sites musical influences such as Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Chris Impelliteri and Yngwie Malmsteen.

Pratt hopes one day to form a group that specializes in instrumental music. Until that time, he continues to work nights in his own project studio, BigEye.
