Al DiMeola
Orange And Blue
The Story
"Orange And Blue" is Al DiMeola's very Metheny-like 1994 album, co-produced with Hernan Romero, who adds his wordless voice, bells and charango to many tunes. DiMeola uses a variety of guitars on the record, including his Gibson Di Meola model jazz electric guitar (a large hollow body similar to the L-5 and perfect for the Metheny tone), Conde Hermanos classical guitar, Ovation acoustic guitar, Guild acoustic guitar, as well as the Roland GRI synthesizer. Principle musical contributors include Mario Parmisano (keyboards, grand piano, Marc Johnson (acoustic bass) and noted drummers Steve Gadd, Manu Katche and Peter Erskine are also featured. Highlights include the up tempo "Casmir" and "Summer Country Song", as well as the remarkable "Chilean Pipe Song".
