The Story
"Hotel Real" finds Baltimore area fusion guitarist Carl Filipiak reuniting
with a stellar lineup of musicians on his most guitar driven work yet. On his fourth and most satisfying project, he combines power and finesse with allusions to Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, and Carlos Santana. "Hotel Real" features musicians such as Dennis Chambers, Will Calhoun, Bob Berg, Gary Thomas and others. Says Filipiak, "I really feel like I tried to play more musically as opposed to coming from a purely guitaristic point of view. I wanted to make a record that was not only full of cool guitar but was fairly concise, to the point, and grooved with that rhythm section."
